Electrical Strength Testing

Electrical installations in homes and workplaces should be designed and installed in a manner that does not present a risk of fire or explosion. Only through direct or indirect contact can people be protected from the risk of accidents. Today, accidents caused by electrical equipment constitute a significant part of work accidents. Electricity constitutes an important risk group in terms of human health and property safety. Electricity is an important topic when undertaking risk assessment studies.

There are many causes of electrical hazards encountered in the workplace. Insulation faults, body contact, short circuit, line contact, earth contact, fault current, leakage current, unauthorized intervention and various external factors are the leading ones. Many of these electrical hazards are caused by improper insulation. If the insulation is not applied properly and correctly, it causes insulation problems and creates danger.

It is very important to have the necessary electrical tests in order not to have any problems in terms of human health and property safety in homes and workplaces. Many electrical tests carried out by accredited laboratories include electrical endurance tests.

The laboratories comply with the criteria and conditions determined in the current legal regulations and the standards developed by local and foreign organizations during these tests. Here are a few of these standards:

  • Electrical resistance of insulating materials - Test methods - Section 5119: Tests at mains frequencies
  • TS EN 60243-2 Electrical resistance of insulating materials - Test methods - Part 2: Additional requirements for tests using direct current voltage
  • TS EN 60243-3 Electrical durability of insulating materials - Test methods - Part 3: Additional requirements for 1,2 / 50 µs impact voltage

These laboratories use state-of-the-art test equipment in order to ensure that the tests are fast, reliable and of high quality, and they have trained and experienced engineers in their staff.
